Privacy
Zot it is a student-run community board for UC Irvine. It is not affiliated with UC Irvine. Last updated October 2026.
What we collect
- When you sign in with your UCI Google account: your UCI email address and the name on that account.
- What you create on the board: posts, photos, replies, likes, reports and private messages.
- Browsing the board needs no account, and we collect nothing about visitors who don't sign in.
How it is used and who sees it
- Posts show your first name and last initial, unless you choose to post anonymously. Replies are always anonymous.
- Your email address is never shown to other students.
- Private messages are visible only to you and the other person in the conversation.
- The student moderators who run Zot it can see who wrote a post or reply, including anonymous ones, so they can act on reports and keep the board safe.
- We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
Safety checks
- Before a post, reply or photo appears, it is checked for harmful content (for example sexual content, violence or harassment) using OpenAI's moderation service. Anything flagged waits for a moderator.
- Photos are made smaller and stripped of hidden location data before upload, and stay private until their post is published.
Services we use
- Supabase stores the board's data, handles sign-in and stores photos.
- Google provides sign-in with your UCI account.
- OpenAI checks content for safety, as described above.
- Vercel hosts the website.
Your choices
- You can delete any of your posts at any time, from the post itself.
- You can delete your account from the account menu. This removes your account, posts, photos, replies, likes and messages.
- You can block another student in messages, and report anything that breaks the community guidelines.
